The University of Oregon bookstore will be at the conference selling copies of Brian's books -- he's written 10 including Thirsty for the Joy: Australian and American Voices, Epiphanies and Elegies, and The Wet Engine. Books from other Oregon authors will also be available.

ReplyDeleteOLA-SSD Gateways Conferences always feature informative workshops and inspiring keynote speakers. Having attended several over the past 15 years, yesterday's conference in Eugene was--in my opinion--the best ever. Brian Doyle set the stage with humor and grace, with glimpses into his treasure trove of humorous and sad family stories. He reminded us of our important mission to children and the child within all humanity. His words moved me to laugh and shed some cathartic tears. I really hope someone managed to record his inspiring keynote address to us and will share it on this blog and on Youtube, so non-library folks can enjoy it, too.

Thanks, Charlotte. We're so glad you enjoyed the conference and Brian's keynote. I hope someone recorded it, as well, and we'll definitely get it up on the blog if it exists.
